The First Global Business of Biodiversity Symposium

On 13th July 2010, the UN International Year of Biodiversity, eminent business leaders and experts from around the world converged on London for the first Global Business of Biodiversity Symposium.  This unique private-sector focused business and biodiversity conference, supported by the UK Government, saw the launch of the highly anticipated 'The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) for Business’ report from study leader Pavan Sukhdev.

This Symposium was designed with several aims in mind: to celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity and to recognise the significant amount of work already underway; to provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge, expertise and issues and to capture feedback from the private sector; and, through the Symposium’s association with the Secretariat of the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), channel that feedback into the policy discussions taking place at the Tenth Conference of Parties (COP10) to the CBD in Nagoya, Japan in October 2010.
